Happy Birthday to My Boys!

One year ago today I had my beautiful baby boys! Remember this picture? It was our first official blog picture from our first official blog post.

(here I am with, from left to right, mucchi chumbuckles (formerly cole), grey oliver, gentle ben, earl and obi (formerly maurice))

We have come a long way from that bathtub! Would anyone like to send an update or picture of the boys? You can share then on my Facebook page, if you would like (or you can send them to Ginger). I got that new timeline thing on Facebook and I feel like I need to liven it up with some more pictures.

Intruder, Intruder!

You will not believe what happened to me last week! Mom was in Chicago on business and Dad was at work...and someone BROKE INTO OUR HOUSE!!! It was right in the middle of the day and they busted the back door open with a crowbar! It scared me so bad! Buster didn't seem too upset by it, but Leroy and I were really scared. Leroy was gated in the bathroom and I hid somewhere pronto! I can't share my hiding spot with you - just incase I ever need to use it again. Mom and Dad don't even know where it is, but it's a good one. When Dad got home he looked for me everywhere, but I was too scared to come out. Then lots of people started coming over and it made me even more scared. Everyone was calling my name - searching inside and outside. Dad said Mom was freaking out in Chicago and that I better come out, but I just couldn't. A couple men in uniforms were even looking for me. Mom said that was really nice of them and that I should have come out. Once most of the people left, I did finally come out. Even though Mom was certain I got outside, I had been in the house the whole time.

It took me a few days to get back to my normal self but I feel pretty good now. A nice man came last week to install something called a security system. I'm not sure what that is, but I get the feeling it's a good thing.

I'm also going to contact this company to see if they can make me a set of these in kitty size. Or maybe some Chinese throwing stars... It's such a tough decision.

2011 In Review

Well, it has been quite a year! It was not too far from this time last year that I started growing kittens in my belly. They were really cute, but I'm not going to do that again; Ginger and Christopher made sure of that. I got here April 13th, 2011 and I've had the full run of the house for close to five months now. I felt a little like a third wheel when I was let into the rest of the house with Buster and Leroy. Buster told me pretty quickly that he was the numba 1 gangsta in the house. And as tiny as Leroy is, he really scared me. I'm still a little apprehensive of him, but I'm not as scared anymore.

As you can see above, I do enjoy some occasional time on the back porch! The sun is nice. (If you look closely, you can see me sticking my tongue out.)

About a month ago something really exciting happened. Buster ended up with giardia. Okay, okay - Ginger and Christopher did not think this was cool, but it worked out fantastic for me! Buster had to be quarantined to the bathroom for a couple weeks. While he was there, I took the opportunity to really come out of my shell a bit. In addition to playing with some more toys, I also started helping myself to a couple Christmas ornaments off the tree. They are all so beautiful hanging still; they are even more fantastic in motion sliding across the floor. Oh! And you should have seen the look on Ginger's face when she turned around and saw me flying out of the middle of the tree. That was priceless. I also started hopping up in the bed in the morning to say good morning to Ginger and Christopher.

The downside of Buster's quarantine was that Ginger and Christopher took that opportunity to put me on a diet! ~gasp~ I should have seen it coming - they have been calling me chunky monkey for a bit now. I just love food so much.

I did feel pretty special when I got to experience my first real Christmas last week! I got my very own stocking complete with treats (low calorie, but I can't complain too much...they are still tasty) and TOYS! Buster and I got a bed that we are supposed to share, but he has been sleeping in it most of the time. That's okay - I still love the old bed and my BOX.

(ginger ordered some vases from cb2 in november - i helped myself to the box - she hasn't had the heart to take it away from me yet. i sleep on it every day. i wonder how long this can last?)

Home!

Hi Everyone!

Wow! So much has happened to me over that past few weeks. A few weeks ago, Ginger and Christopher decided they might want to keep me. Then a nice lady emailed Ginger and said she was interested in adopting me. Wow; two people wanted me at once. I felt so special. The other lady that was interested in me had a cat named THURSDAY! What are the chances? It's almost like it was meant to be!

I went to meet Thursday's Mom and family. I wasn't even nice to them, so I'm not sure why they decided to take me, but they did. Ginger ugly-cried. It was a little embarrassing. I know I'm sweet, but geesh, keep it together, lady!

I was excited to meet Thursday...a little apprehensive, but excited.

But, alas - it wasn't meant to be. Thursday did not like me at all! And I was scared of Thursday's brother, James...a DOG! We gave it about a week, but once it was obvious Thursday and I wouldn't get along (perhaps we needed a buffer? A Wednesday? hahahaha!), I decided to go back to Ginger and Christopher.

This past Monday morning, Christopher dropped me off at the vet. They DID NOT tell me this was going to be part of the deal! The doctor poked me a bit and then I started to feel awful sleepy. The next thing I know, I wake up with a cut on my belly and all my claws are gone! What the crap??

Ginger assures me this was the only way I could live with them, so I guess I am accepting. It hurts a bit, but I think it will be okay in a few days. Ginger likens this claw business to cosmetic surgery. She say's it's unnecessary, expensive, painful, and you do it to make yourself more attractive to someone else. But she says that if you do the proper research, pick a good doctor, get pain medication, and take good care of yourself while you recover, you can lead a sweet-ass life afterward. Fine.

I just came home today. Ginger picked me up at lunch.

(Okay - listen - here's the real truth: I didn't like that nonsense at the vet one bit. I'm going to be fine. I still love Ginger and Christopher, but I totally pooped in the corner of their library.)

So anyway, I have a home now! I'm pretty darn excited about it. I've kind of started to like this blogging business, so I might keep it up. Check back and I will let you know how things are going!

More Shots

I had to go to the AARF House this evening to get my second round of distemper shots. Ginger came home from work, put me in that awful carrier and then took me down the stairs. That tiny little animal they call Leroy (or is it just a really large rodent...I just can't tell...) was crying and I guess Ginger felt like she should comfort it. She put me on the table so that my friend Buster couldn't get to me (they try to keep us separated, but we talk and hold hands under the crack at the bottom of the door all the time). Ginger sat down with Leroy for a minute and when she turned around, this is what she found:

That Buster. He's just so funny.

Anyway - we got in the car (I HATE the car!) and went over to AARF. We had to wait a really long time this time. Ginger said she left the car running the whole time for me so that I wouldn't cook once we got back in the car. YIKES! I'm glad she did that! I'm also glad the car was still there when we got back out. That would have been most unfortunate to have had to walk back home.

I'm two-thirds of the way done with my distemper shots now. At least I think I am anyway. Surely there are no more than three rounds of shots; that would be preposterous. This last shot wasn't so hot. It really hurt me!

While we were there, Ginger also talked to someone about getting me "fixed." I don't know what this means; I'm not broken! Whatever it means, I think it's going to happen soon. I hope I won't have to get back in the car to do it, but I have a feeling I will. I would feel a whole lot better about all of this if I at least knew I had a home to go to... Doesn't someone want to adopt me? I really am charming. Let me prove it to you!

Adorable!

I just got this picture from Matt - isn't it the cutest???

(what sweet little boys!)

A few days after Ben and Obi went home, I got an email from Meghan. In the preview, all I saw was "Hi Ginger, Unfortunately Obi isn't adjusting very well..." My heart just sank! But don't worry! They weren't giving up! Meghan said that he acted pretty scared and hid under the couch a lot. She just wanted to know if he did this at our house. Well...he lived in a bathroom when he was with us so there wasn't a whole lot of room for shyness, but he always was the most reserved. Meghan figured he just needed a little time to adjust, and I figured she was right.

Wasn't I excited the next week when I got this email a week later:

Hey Ginger-

So much has changed in the past week! On Friday we noticed that by the end of an evening that Obi was relaxing and playing much more so we decided not to put the boys back into the bathroom for overnight- and then the next day being Saturday the boys were out all day. The "old" shy Obi was gone by nightfall! I wouldn't say he was as crazy as Ben but he is now playing and snuggling with us on a regular basis. :)

"No Ben" has probably become the most used phrase in our household. Everything and anything that he is NOT supposed to get into- he is. But he is making us laugh constantly. I can't count the number of times he has fallen off the sofa/toy because he gets distracted by something across the room.

Both boys have become super loud purr-ers but their voice box still needs some working on as their meows are still very sad and scratchy sounding.

I attached a picture that Matt caught earlier in the week that I thought was super cute- the boys look like they are hugging each other (I actually think they both might still have ear mites cause they are always digging at each others ears- they go back to the vet next week)

Until next time!

Meghan

(this was the attached pic - labeled "brotherly love")

And, geesh! Those darn eat mites! Hopefully the vet got rid of those!

What a great update!

Miss. Tuesday on Petfinder

Take a look guys! I'm on Petfinder! There's so much talk lately of people finding love online, I decided I would have to check it out. I sure do hope somebody sees what a great addition I could be to their family.
